Having had a Spirtiual Awakening

July 13, 2015 by Kayce L.

“Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.”
But what are ‘these principles’? The following is what I have found in studying the Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous, along with the Twelve Steps And Twelve Traditions
12 Steps | 12 Traditions | Accepting and solving problems | Anonymity | Change for the better | Clean house | Doing the right thing | Giving | Grow along spiritual lines | Honesty | Humility | Inclusiveness | Independence | Joy of good living | Kindness | Leadership in AA | Love | Open mindedness | Opposite of… | Patience | Peace and harmony | Surrender | Tolerance | Trust in God | Willingness | Work with others

My spiritual awakening didn’t come right away .even though I was sober I still fought myself and wouldn’t let GOD in.I now have started to live for GOD it isn’t easy sometimes. However for GOD and myself I keep pushing forward.hoping all other things will fall into place.

My spiritual awakening was sudden on 7/22/2000 I woke up in the hospital (again) after another set of blood transfusions due to my failed liver and realized I had no desire to drink at all. I was so certain of that I didn’t think I needed AA. When I finally came to AA and got a sponsor& began working the steps I learned the difference between recovery and just not drinking. A lifetime journey. 5472 days.

  4. Daniel says:

God cannot heal what isn’t broken…aka denial.
Surrender to win is just one of the many paradoxes in AA.

  5. Scott says:

During my week off from work I went on a pretty nasty binge and ended up being hospitalized. I’ve been back 2 days have zero desire to drink but unfortunately zero desire to do anything else. Completely no ability to sleep, so I just sit in front of the TV 22 hours a day and drink water. Going to make myself go to a meeting tomorrow. If anybody is toying with the idea of drinking don’t do it. There’s much worse things that can happen then hangovers and blackouts, like losing your mind for example

Thumps up Mr.Scott. I’ve always heard that it is never a sin the fall down the sin is to stay down, and you are far from down. Keep up the good work
