Without faith there is no courage. Recovery gives us faith and then we develop the courage to change. One day at a time.

Can Fear and Faith be contained in the same space? Yes or no, I think fear is winning at the moment.

No Dave faith my brother enjoy life my friend it’s awesome trust me !!!!!!!!

Dave….I think when the anxiety pumps up our brains we can have fear/faith/terror all at once. Just my opinion. When I get that wacky I deep breathe, exercise compulsively and pray…Oh and of course talk to another alcoholic that can talk you off the ledge. I hope you feel better.

      • Helena says:

Your wisdom has inspired me. When I feel wacky and fear sets in I tend to isolate. I’m grateful for our program and the tools. Taking one day at a time is my savior.

I know that feeling Dave. Step 2 has done it for me. I used to be in fear all the time. What a torture. But since taking steps 1, 2 and 3 the fears have become much more manageable and now when I feel them, I just think of my HP as my protector and my provider, and I can breath easily knowing that my needs will be met and that I’m being guided and protected…
keep the faith… God is in charge

Fear is a very real thing EVERYONE struggles with. Just do your best every day to live each moment IN the moment. Focus your eyes on what’s right in front of you – literally. You may just have a better day:)

Thank you ladies, I’m just feeling whacky standing on a ledge. My job came to a hault 3 mo ago, and the outlook not so good anytime soon. You made me smile though with the replys. This getting old ain’t for sissys

    • Thomas Cromer says:

      Hope your feeling better Dave!!!!!

    • Janny says:

Dave don’t buy into that getting old junk…60 is the new 40…70 is the new 50. We in AA have something special and the big one is courage. I just retired after 36 years at a cool job…..I have been going to lots of meetings and feel really good instead of scared. Do something different today.

  3. Jeremy R says:

Love and fear. When I allow my Creator to accept me, in other words, when I believe He is loving and caring, I accept His love and it drives out my fears and insecurities. The more I experience that, the less fear has a hold on me. But, it usually takes me being in a tight spot to take the leap.

    Dave C,
I feel it as well. Bones ache, interviewing for jobs at this age feels odd..
No one admits it but there really is age discrimination.
I try for serenity and realize that something will turn up soon.
I garden and try and get to meetings and realize that at least I am still sober.
    Grateful for that.

  8. Alan says:

I like to think my fears have been experienced by my high power before me. I take satisfaction in knowing I’m never walking alone, he’s right there beside me, helping every step if I let him

  9. Jerry says:

I’m in here because I’m not all there.
