Step 4 & 5

July 12, 2016 by Kayce L.

We pocket our pride and go to it, illuminating every twist of character, every dark cranny of the past. Once we have taken this step, withholding nothing, we are delighted. We can look the world in the eye. We can be alone at perfect peace and ease.Pg 75. Into Action

Nothing helped me as much as step 4 and I thought I’d go to my grave with most of the things I did in my past.. But opening up to another person and finding out that drinking was just a symptom of my many problems and character defects was like lifting a ton of bricks off my shoulders. I began to heal to really heal at this point.. If I continue to practice steps 10, 11, and 12 everyday I can continue to heal and everything gets better! I had nothing to lose and everything to win

This is actually talking about Step 5. Which is the step that made me feel like I was a part of the fellowship!

I’m stuck!! Can not get up the courage to take thec4th &5th steps at almost 5 years sober

Randy. We go at the pace that God sets for us.
Staying sober is the main goal. When you find the right
Person to open up to you will.
It will feel like a load off your back.
Suggestion from an old timer if you care.
Practice by writing down what you would say
If you had the sponsor at least you will see it.
When you get that sponsor who by the way will not judge you.
The reason we are afraid of 4-5 is we think we will be judged or looked down upon. In my experience the fear is worse than the actual act of sharing.
