Meeting makers Make it

June 22, 2015 by Kayce L.

We don’t have to stay stuck in our misery and discomfort. An immediate option is available that will help us feel better: Go to a meeting, a Twelve Step support group. Why resist what can help us feel better? Taking 1 or 2 hours a week for a meeting can maximize the potential of the remaining 166 hours. We can easily spend a majority of our waking hours obsessing, sitting and doing nothing, lying in the bed feeling depressed, or chasing after other’s people’s needs. There is nothing as invigorating as getting back on track. Going to a meeting.

We need to remember going to meetings helps us in recovery and everyday life.

Once more: The alcoholic at certain times has no effective mental defense against the first drink. Except in a few cases, neither he nor any other human being can provide such a defense. His defense must come from a Higher Power.

I found recovery Oct. 20th 1987,and I still go to meetings at the 3rd trad.group on a regular basis,I guess I love AA,cause I sure give it my time. In 87 folks were there for me,and want to be there for others, and in the process it helps me grow. Still love me some recovery

  6. Tom Kippenberg says:

have not had a drink since 11/17/82. Still chair meetings, make coffee and go to lots of meetings. Why mess with something that has worked for so many years!

  7. Neisha says:

I have yet to see a person in AA who relies on a higher power, goes to meetings consistently, is current w their sponsor, has commitments, and continues to be a step working member of AA with a newcomer go back out and drink. Imagine that!!!
